Description | Construction for the Peachtree Street, North Bridge enhancements began in 2015 with the installation of new barrier-separated sidewalks, landscaping, decorative bridge fencing, lighting, bridge joint work, and gateway features. This barrier creates a safe environment for walkers and bicyclists alike to use the sidewalk and enjoy the 2,200 linear feet of complex steel arches that extend above them. The bridge features illuminated signage that provides a visual impact, identifying Peachtree Street to the more than 300,000 motorists that pass beneath the bridge each day on the I-75/I-85 Connector. On the topside, a pedestrian-facing portion of the signage features photos from Atlanta photographers Gene Phillips and David Kosmos, celebrating Midtown's most famous landmarks. The project was completed in December of 2017 and celebrates the bridges on either end of Midtown as gateways to Atlanta's urban core. |
Cost | Construction cost was just over $3.3 million. |
