Overall satisfaction with attributes of major highways

  • Visual appeal. In 2000, 72 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 17 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 11 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 60 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 27 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 13 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Safety. In 2000, 72 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 11 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 17 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 58 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 26 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 16 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Bridge conditions. In 2000, 71 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 15 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 14 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 58 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 30 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 12 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Travel amenities. In 2000, 71 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 15 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 14 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 56 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 27 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 17 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Pavement conditions. In 2000, 58 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 11 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 31 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 48 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 31 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 21 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Work zones. In 2000, 58 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 9 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 33 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." The work zones category was not measured in 1995.
  • Maintenance response time. In 2000, 55 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 19 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 26 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 52 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 30 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 18 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Traffic flow. In 2000, 44 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 13 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 43 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 47 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 30 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 23 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
