Overall satisfaction with safety

  • Hazard warning signs. In 2000, 84 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 7 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 9 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 68 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 23 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 9 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Lane width. In 2000, 80 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 6 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 14 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 68 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 21 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 11 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Pavement markings. In 2000, 77 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 7 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 17 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 63 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 24 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 13 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Safety barriers. In 2000, 74 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 12 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 14 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 60 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 27 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 13 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Shoulder width. In 2000, 69 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 10 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 21 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 52 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 27 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 21 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Roadway lighting. In 2000, 67 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 16 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 17 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 48 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 29 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 23 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Skid-resistant pavement. In 2000, 57 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 18 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 25 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied." In 1995, 46 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 34 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 20 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied."
  • Emergency road information. In 2000, 51 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"; 21 percent were "neither/don't know"; and 28 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied". Data for emergency road information were not collected in 1995.
