Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems

New On November 16, 2023, FHWA announced the awarding of $33,919,136 in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 and (FY) 2023 ADCMS Program grants to 10 projects in 10 States. Learn more about the projects.

ADCMS are digital technologies and processes for management of construction and engineering activities, including systems for infrastructure planning and coordination, design, construction, maintenance, modernization and management, and asset management including hardware, mobile devices, software, ‘internet of things’ (IOT), and personnel. It also includes the development and support of systems to enhance and share data across an asset’s lifecycle and between organizational silos, also referred to as maximizing interoperability.

A strategic approach for how to integrate an enterprise-wide data management system for infrastructure assets has been outlined in the FHWA Building Information Modeling (BIM) National Strategic Roadmap. The objectives of BIL’s ADCMS are fully represented by FHWA’s ongoing and strategic efforts to deploy digital project delivery practices during EDC, with practical research, and with BIM and the National Strategic Roadmap.
