Most important highway improvements

The public thinks improvements to traffic flow, safety, and pavement conditions are most important. The following responses were given when asked about the most important highway characteristic to improve: traffic flow (28%), safety (26%), pavement conditions (21%), work zones (10%), maintenance response time (7%), bridge conditions (3%), travel amenities (1%), and visual appeal (1%). The source of this data is the 2000 Infrastructure Survey.
