Comparison of satisfaction with attributes of major highways
For most attributes of major highways, travelers are more satisfied
than they were five years ago. Respondents were asked to rate their
level of satisfaction with 8 attributes of major highways. On visual
appeal, 72 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"
in 2000, as compared to 60 percent in 1995. On safety, 72 percent
were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" in 2000,
as compared to 58 percent in 1995. On bridge conditions 71 percent
were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" in 2000,
as compared to 58 percent in 1995. On travel amenities, 71 percent
were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" in 2000,
as compared to 56 percent in 1995. On pavement conditions, 58 percent
were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" in 2000,
as compared to 48 percent in 1995. On work zones, 58 percent were
"satisfied" or "very satisfied" in 2000; the work
zones category was not measured in 1995. On maintenance response time,
55 percent were "satisfied" or "very satisfied"
in 2000, as compared to 52 percent in 1995. On traffic flow, 44 percent
were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" in 2000,
as compared to 47 percent in 1995. The source of the 2000 data is
