Comparison of dissatisfaction with attributes of major highways

Respondents' dissatisfaction with traffic flow contributes significantly to increased dissatisfaction with major highways. Respondents were asked to rate their level of satisfaction with 8 attributes of major highways. On visual appeal, 11 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000, as compared to 13 percent in 1995. On bridge conditions, 14 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000, as compared to 12 percent in 1995. On travel amenities, 14 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000, as compared to 17 percent in 1995. On safety, 17 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000, as compared to 16 percent in 1995. On maintenance response time, 26 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000, as compared to 18 percent in 1995. On pavement conditions, 31 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000, as compared to 21 percent in 1995. On work zones, 33 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000; the work zones category was no measured in 1995. On traffic flow, 43 percent were "dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" in 2000, as compared to 23 percent in 1995. The source of the 2000 data is the 2000 Infrastructure Survey.
