Impact of the transportation system on the community

Most respondents agree that the transportation system supports important community values. When asked about how the transportation system impacts their communities, 84 percent of respondents thought that the transportation system "helps make my community a better place to live;" 81 percent said that the transportation system "contributes to the community's economic well-being;" 79 percent said that the transportation system "benefits my local community;" and 75 percent said that the transportation system "contributes to the community's environmental well-being." The source of this data is the 2000 Infrastructure Survey.
