Largest specific increases (more than 10 percentage points) in satisfaction with attributes of major highways

Respondents expressed increased satisfaction since 1995 with a number of major highway attributes. Of the attributes that increased more than 10 percentage points since 1995, six were in the category of safety: hazard warning signs, lane width, pavement markings, safety barriers, roadway lighting, and skid-resistant pavement; two were in the category of pavement conditions: quiet ride and durability; three were in the category of bridge conditions: visual appearance, durability, and smoothness of ride; and three were in the category of visual appeal: compatibility with the environment, design of rest areas, and landscaping. The sources of this data are the 2000 Infrastructure Survey and 1995 NQI National Highway User Survey.
